Accompanying persons interested in entering the Congress Building, are kindly requested to register to the Conference. The registration fee is 50 EURO. It will allow you to attend the scientific sessions, and to participate in the Welcome Party held on Sunday, July the 27th, and to Coffee/Tea breaks during the week. Remember that, for safety reasons, people without the Conference badge will not be allowed to circulate inside the Conference building.
If you want to to register to the Conference, please, fill in the Registration Form you will find in the page Registration, otherwise you can register on-site at the Registration Desks.

A Tour program is available for all accompanying persons. You can register to the Tours either by filling in the Hotel/Tours Registration Form that you can download from the Hotel Reservation page or on-site at the Registration Desks. We suggest you to make the reservation in advance, in order to be sure of the availability of the Tour.

A - Half-day tours (HDT)


HDT1 - Imperial Rome

Step back into ancient times through the Roman forum, the Fora of Caesar Augustus and Trajan, the Capitol, Colosseum and Palatine hill and let the magic of ancient Rome cast its spell. Your imagination will take you around an exciting journey to history.











HDT2 - Rome of the Popes

You will walk leisurely along the galleries of the Vatican Museums, seeing Botticelli, Perugino, Signorelli, Pinturicchio and Michelangelo's masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel and to Rapael's magnificent decoration of Julius II's  apartment. The imposing sight of St. Peter's square and Bramante's basilica are as overwhelming as the treasures inside. Michelangelo's Pietà, most tender image ever carved out of a block of marble, the harmony and grace of Michelangelo's dome, the spectacular Bernini's decorations and sculptures, all contribute to a memorable experience.









HDT3 - A Walk along the Appian Way

The ancient Appian way was the first and the most important of the consular roads built by Romans and was wanted by the censor Appius Claudius to link Rome to Capua. Rightly called the “regina viarum” ( the queen of the roads). It witnessed the thriumph of the Roman Emperors and houses their burial places as well as the well known catacombs of the first Christians.









HDT4 - Ostia Antica

Best preserved example of an ancient commercial city, Ostia Antica was the river and sea harbour of ancient Rome. Founded in the 4th century BC, grew to become the empire prominent port.
Amongst pine trees and evergreens, remains of temples, thermal baths, fishmongers benches, wine-tavern counters, synagogues, early Christian churches, apartment blocks, mosaic's decorated freight forwarding and shippers premises designing a charming romantic stage. A beautifully laid out archaeological museum, through its sculptures, mosaics, frescoes, ornaments enables the visitor to imagine Ostia Antica impressive wealth.









B - Full-day tours (FDT)

FDT1 - I Castelli

Full day tour of the Roman Wine Hills “Castelli Romani”. This tour includes:
1 - Frascati, that was the favourite resort of the affluent youth of ancient Rome. From the main square there is an extensive view downhill as far as Rome and uphill to the terraces of Villa Aldobrandini. Famous for its production of white wine.
2 - Grottaferrata, Rocca di Papa and Nemi, villages occupying a charming site in a natural amphitheatre on the steep slopes of an ancient volcanic crater now filled by Nemi Lake. Famous world-wide for its strawberries. You will take a break in this place. Here a stop will be made to have lunch in a typical “fraschetta”.


FDT2 - A Day in Tivoli: Villa D'Este and Hadrian's Villa

The tour will start in the morning with the visit of Hadrian's Villa, designed by the Roman Emperor Hadrian himself and considered one of the most beautiful and attractive imperial Villas. Afterwords in Tivoli you can have lunch. In the afternoon there will be the visit of Villa d'Este, the summer residence of Cardinal Ippolito d'Este recently re-opened after the restoration of the gardens fountains himself and considered one of the most beautiful and attractive imperial Villas.

At the Tourist desk in the Conference Building you will find all the information about the several events of entertainment (concerts, exhibitions, open theater performances, etc.) scheduled every summer in Rome by the Municipality, for the famous "Estate Romana".
